The Oriole girls varsity met Colby at Colby on Monday, Jan. 5, coming away with a 67-34 win against the Hornets. The win Monday follows a loss to Elk Mound on Friday, Jan. 2, bringing the team record so far this year to 5-5 overall.
Oriole girls varsity head basketball coach Ryan Wundrow shared more on Elk Mound after results.
“We played a very good team on Friday with one of the better players in our conference,” he said. “I was very pleased with our effort and attitude. We had a less than stellar first half shooting the ball. We competed and played well with one of the better teams in the conference for the entire game. We have some young player mistakes to iron out but we just keep getting better.”
Wundrow shared more after the win at Colby.
“The girls did a great job versus Colby just having some patience and playing hard,” he said. “We continued to push the pace and play tenacious defense which led to us going on a great run in the second half and outscoring them 41-15. Our defense led to a lot of easier buckets and advantages in transition. Our JV team also won again and continues to grow. We hope to build on that success and learning and take another step vs. Bloomer on Thursday.”
The Orioles are scheduled to play Bloomer at Bloomer on Thursday, Jan. 8. Game start is 7:00 p.m.
