Oriole Girls Golf recognized for academic excellence

The Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin (GCAW) has announced that the Stanley-Boyd Girls Golf team has earned recognition for their excellent work in the classroom while also participating in the 2025 WIAA girls’ golf season.

The Team Academic All-State Award was established to recognize high school golf teams with the highest team grade point averages (‘team’ is defined as the five golfers on the roster for the girls’ 2025 WIAA regional tournament or conference championship). This year’s teams were recognized in one of three tiers based on the average GPA of the five athletes that were nominated:

  • Gold Level Academic Teams: Teams with an average cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.
  • Silver Level Academic Teams: Teams with an average cumulative GPA of 3.50 to 3.74.
  • Bronze Level Academic Teams: Teams with an average cumulative GPA of 3.25 to 3.49.

Stanley-Boyd achieved Gold Level Status for the 2025 season. Nominated athletes from Stanley-Boyd this year included Allie Goodman, McKaila Simon, Caitlen Ketterhagen, Vivian Morrow, and Lula Chwala.

Stanley-Boyd Orioles Head Golf Coach Devon Wenndt shared more.

“Coach Randy Gustafson and I were just speaking about how enjoyable last season was for us from a coach’s perspective,” he said. “The ladies put in a ton of hard work on the golf course and were rewarded for it with their first WIAA Sectional berth in a decade, which was a nice “cherry on top” moment.  Gold Level Academic All-State is the standard that we have come to expect from our ladies, as Coach and I both agree wholeheartedly that what we achieve in the classroom is exceedingly more important than what we achieve on the golf course.  It is a great comfort to know that, once again, some of Stanley-Boyd’s best and brightest have chosen to represent our school in a manner that is consistent with the values that we preach.  The Lady Oriole golfers have their coaches’ gratitude, and we look forward to carrying on this tradition of academic excellence amongst our golfers in the years ahead.”
