Oriole sports are back in action. After practicing these past two weeks, the Stanley-Boyd Oriole football team will hold a scrimmage Friday, August 16 at 10:00 a.m., in Oriole Park.
“We want to get better every day and be the best team we can be,” Head Coach Jeff Koenig shared “Every year we have different levels of talent and commitment. This team has put themselves in a good position, but we have to work that much harder.”
With 18 seniors and a roster of 56 overall, players to watch include All State Honorable Mention athletes Storm Tiry and Madden Mahr, as well as several returning All Conference players.
Among juniors (now seniors) named to all conference this past year were Madden Mahr, Storm Tiry, Gavin Hatfield, Cole Brenner, and Carter Isenberger.
Returning junior Willy Graham also made last year’s All Conference listings.
With eight returners on offense and seven on defense, Koenig said the team had, “ a lot of talented kids.”
Now busy selling sponsor cards to help with athletics, the Stanley-Boyd football team hits the field at Oriole Park Friday at 10 a.m.
Assistant coaches this year include Braxton Thompson, Ryan Wundrow, Danny Halterman, Travis Schindler, Brody Mahr, Bob Allen, Nick Sturm, and Jeff Trunkel.
