With a game against Thorp on Friday postponed for rain, the Stanley-Boyd varsity soft- ball team faced ou one day earlier with Fall Creek in a double header at Fall Creek Coming away with two losses, Coach Tyler Wagner shared his thoughts on the doubleheader after the dust had settled.
“I was pleased with our pitchers throwing strikes,” he said. “All 3 pitchers did well in the circle vs Fall Creek, limiting walks. Fall Creek’s batters took good approaches to the plate and put a lot of balls in play. Likewise, our defense had 2 errors in each game, but besides that, we played pretty clean. Moving for- ward, continuing to keep our errors in the field to a minimum or zero, and we will be looking to get more girls on base and pushing across a few more runs each game, while on defense continuing to pitch in the strike zone, and letting our defense work.”
As to future double headers and team performance, Wagner had more to share.
“When games get stacked, making sure that our pitchers are well-rested and ready to go as we move forward,” he said of things important to team performance. “With multiple games coming up each week, it allows for a lot of gametime to get more live reps and experience.” Wagner closed out by saying he was excited for what the future held, looking to hit a consistent stride.
"Many players are showing flashes in prac tice and at the game the other night. I’m excited for when it clicks, and we hit a consistent stride,” he said.
