Oriole spikers have challenging week

Coming off three competitions in five days, the Oriole spikers took away two set wins overall but will need to step up their game if they want to end the season on a high note.

Starting out against McDonell at home Tuesday, Sept. 19, the Orioles came away with three losses, the final three set scores being 19-25, 14-25, and 6-25 for the night.

Facing off with Cadott two nights later, the Orioles took away one set win, the final set scores being 15-25, 25-21, 15-25, and 21-25.

Facing off at Medford on Saturday, Sept. 23, the Orioles took away one set win against Mellen in the second tournament match, falling to Columbus Catholic, Cadott, and Gilman.

As to the season, the Oriole spikers are 6-21 overall and 1-2 in conference. Overall for the season freshman offensive hitter Kelly Lew leads in team statistics with 2.2 kills per set, followed by junior Syleen Seichter at 1.7 and sophomore  Ava Prahl with 1.5.

In total blocks sophomore Macie Lagrander leads the team with 15, followed by Seichter with 10 and Lew with 6. As for serving aces, sophomore Bailey Sikora stands at 31, followed by Prahl with 25 and Lew with 20. Sikora also leads in aces per set with 0.5, followed by Prahl with 0.4 and Lew with 0.3.

As for digs so far this season, Prahl leads the way with 142, followed by Lew with 137 and Sikora with 114.

In digs per set Prahl leads with 2.5, followed by Lew with 2.4 and Lauren Potaczek with 2.0. In terms of assists Sikora leads with 335, while for kills Lew has 129, followed by Seichter with 97 and Prahl with 86. As for Receptions, Lew leads the team with 214, followed by Potaczek with 181 and Prahl with 149.

The Orioles next compete against Bloomer at Stanley-Boyd High School on Thursday, Sept. 28. Start is at 7:15 p.m.
