The Oriole varsity baseball team opened last week against Cadott and Thorp/Owen-Withee, the Orioles taking home two losses and a win.
The first game on Tuesday, April 7 at Cadott, finished with a score of 10-2 Hornets, the second on Thursday April 9 11-0, also in the Hornet’s favor.
The third game Friday, April 10 saw the Orioles take a 15-8 victory against the Thorp/Owen-Withee Redhawks.
Orioles varsity baseball head coach Ryan Sturm shared more after results.
“A 1-2 start doesn’t tell the whole story, but it certainly shows us where we need to tighten up,” he said. “Dropping those early games to Cadott and getting shut out in the second was a wake-up call regarding our defensive consistency and plate discipline. However, seeing the bats come alive for 15 runs against Owen-Withee shows what this lineup is capable of when we find our rhythm. We’re shaking off the rust and focusing on carrying that offensive energy into our next matchup.”
The Orioles now play Bloomer on Thursday, at Stanley-Boyd. Game start is 5:00 p.m.
