The Oriole varsity spikers continue their winning streak, defeating Bloomer at home Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Of note for the night, Macie LaGrander had 17 kills on 25 attempts with just one error over three sets, while Kelly Lew logged 18 kills and three blocks for the night. The varsity team followed up Bloomer with a 3-1 win against Regis Thursday, Oct. 2 and tournament wins at La Crosse on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Orioles Head Coach Karley Wiensch shared more after results were in.
“I thought that we played well in the first set vs Bloomer, it was definitely not our best game,” she said. “It was a back and forth first set, then we definitely picked it up and controlled the second and third sets. We played as a team in the second and third sets to pull out the win in 3. We are currently sitting in second behind McDonell, after beating Regis on Thursday at Regis.”
Wiensch also shared on the team’s overall standing so far.
“We are currently 32-3 overall and 4-1 in conference (after a great 5-0, tournament win weekend down at La Crosse Aquinas),” she said. Scores at La Crosse were as follows:
Fennimore (25-11, 25-23)
Prairie du Chien (25-8, 25-13)
Blair-Taylor (25-13, 25-17)
Aquinas (25-19, 26-24)
Sparta (25-18, 25-19)

Now ranked second in the Cloverbelt, the Orioles compete in the championship Thursday, Oct. 16.
