Coming off a challenging week, the Oriole girls varsity volleyball team fell to Bloomer 3 - 0 in match play. Set scores were 13-25, 9-25, and 13-25. Oriole Volleyball Head Coach Karley Wiensch shared her thoughts on the night after the scores were tallied.

“We had a great warm-up!” Wiensch said of last week against Bloomer. “Our passers were passing great, our hitters were connecting with our setter. We were excited and ready to play. Once the game started we had energy. We also had great plays where we were able to capitalize on Bloomer’s errors as well. Bloomer is a good team and had most of their team back from last year, with experienced players, who played at state last year. We did not play that bad, we are young and still learning how each other plays, which will come with time. Playing together and learning how to play with and by each other will develop.”

As to personal stats for the night, Wiensch shared that Bailey Sikora had 2 aces and 17 assists, while Syleen Seichter had 4 kills and Macie LaGrander 5 kills. Ava Prahl racked up 5 kills with 10 digs, and Kelly Lew took away 4 kills with 13 digs.

The Oriole varsity competes next with the Osseo-Fairchild Thunder at Stanley-Boyd Thursday, Oct. 5 at 7:15 p.m.
