Continuing their winning streak of late, the Oriole varsity girls volleyball team took down Bloomer 3-2 in an away match after defeating Fall Creek 3 – 0 at home two days earlier at home, the closest Fall Creek came to winning being a 25-21 match decided in the Orioles favor.
Coming away two days later with wins against Bloomer in the second (28-26), fourth (25-13), and fifth (17-15) match sets respec tively, the Orioles took down the only undefeated team on the conference. Head varsity volleyball coach Karley Wiensch shared her thoughts after the team defeated Bloomer.
“A GREAT WIN!!!” Wiensch shared after things were over at Bloomer. “It feels great to beat the only undefeated team left on conference! We played our hearts out and wanted to win. The girls played together and pushed through being down in some sets to pull out a win!!! They were so excited and were constantly cheering each other on as the night went. They stuck together and played as a family.”
Coming out for lead kills was Emily Brenner with 18, followed by Teagen Becker and Kayte Licht with 10 a piece. Tina Benson got in 14 digs with eight for Brenner, while Kaden Drehmel had seven digs, 17 assists, and three aces, with Avery Vait giving 20 assists. Facing off against Regis Tuesday night at home, the Oriole varsity next plays Osseo-Fairchild in a set of away matches on Tuesday Oct. 6, with match play set to begin at 7:15 p.m.
