Oriole volleyball season ends in five-set thriller

The Oriole volleyball season came to an end after a two-hour drive through a snowstorm last Tuesday night to take on Baldwin-Woodville in the opening game of the WIAA Division 2 playoffs.

S-B, the six seed, took Baldwin-Woodville to five sets and lost 15-13 in the final thriller.

“S-B was moved up to Division 2 volleyball, and the girls showed they were up for the challenge against the bigger schools,” said coach Rainy Antolak. “We played a thrilling five-set match that was extremely close. Although we lost 15-13 in the fifth set, I thought this was the team’s finest performance of the season. We did great things offensively and defensively, and I am extremely proud of the effort they put forth in the playoff match and throughout the season. I would also like to recognize seniors Hannah Hause, Aaliyah Moore, Kailynn Schillinger, and Taylor Schuebel for their leadership and contributions to Oriole volleyball.”

Emily Brenner led the offense with 13 kills, while Taylor Schuebel had 11. Lilly Hoel had eight kills and nine blocks, while Teagan Becker had eight kills. Kaytle Lictht had 40 digs on the night, and Tina Benson had 18.
