The Orioles Cross Country Team headed to Owen-Withee on Saturday, Oct. 18, coming away with two All Conference runners (Mariah Wehling) and Haylee Shakal and two honorable mentions (Lucy Wundrow and John Smit).

Orioles Head Cross Country Coach Nick Mahr shared more after results were in.

“We are proud to get 2 All-Conference runners and have 2 kids get Honorable Mention,” he said. “We finished 4th for girls and 8th for boys in a tough conference. We had a few kids knock out some amazing times as well, even if they weren’t up in the mix for those individual awards. Senior Eli Lilla ran 21:29, almost 30 seconds faster than his PR despite being injured during the week. If you look at his improvement since his freshman year it’s even more impressive. Freshman Ben Henderson also had a great day dropping over a minute off his PR to finish in 22:56. Ben didn’t run in middle school but started with summer running and has improved amazingly.”

“Our boys and girls teams go to different locations for Sectionals this year. Girls run at 5:15 in Rice Lake on Friday 10/24 and Boys run at 2:00 p.m. at Unity HS in Balsam Lake on Saturday 10/25.
