Quarterback Carsen Hause threw three touchdown passes – two to Cooper Nichols – as Stanley-Boyd passed its first test against Elk Mound in its first year in the Cloverbelt Conference.

Hause hit Mike Karlen for 58 yards halfway through the first quarter to get the Orioles on the board, and they led 6-0 after an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt.

The Mounders drew first blood in the second quarter and led by one point before Hause found Nichols who left Elk Mound in his dust on a 93-yard touchdown. Mike Karlen kicked the point after. In the third quarter, Hause found Nichols for a nine-yard TD strike, with Karlen converting.

Karlen kicked an impressive 38-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.

Hause was 10-16 in the air for 247 yards. Nichols was the primary target with six catches for 174 yards, and Karlen caught three for 73.

The Orioles had just 57 yards on the ground, and Karlen picked up 45 of those on 12 carries.

On the defensive side of the ball, Logan Burzynski and Landon Karlen each had interceptions for the Orioles.

The Orioles travel to play undefeated Durand Friday night before returning home Oct. 30 to host Osseo-Fairchild.
