The Oriole boys varsity closed its season Thursday at Osseo-Fairchild, falling to the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Redhawks in a 90-80 finish. The season saw the Orioles amass 22 wins and claim the regional championship, finishing with a 22-4 overall record.
Oriole boys varsity head coach Dakota Nichols shared more after the game.
“We had our highest scoring game of the season, had less than 10 turnovers, but unfortunately it just wasn’t enough,” he said. “I have to give credit to G.E.T, they shot the ball extremely well from the field and only missed one free throw.”
“We have nothing to hang our heads about. We had a record breaking season, winning 22 games. We won a regional title for only the fourth time in program history. I want to thank our seniors for all of their hard work and dedication to our program.”
“Looking at the future, we return our starting 5 and 9 of our top 10 guys. This includes four all-conference players. Expectations will be high next season, and we are excited!”
