Taking to the racecourse at River’s Edge Golf Course in Marshfield Sept. 15, the Oriole boys and girls varsity cross country teams ran the 5,000 meters varsity, competing with
Coach Nick Mahr shared some thoughts on how the night went.
“We ran really great times, and it was a fantastic environment,” Mahr said of the 5,000-meter race. “The course was flat and fast and there were lots of other runners to push us so most of our runners ran great times. Our standout performance was Lucas Walker running 16:34. That is one of the fastest times ever run by a Stanley-Boyd runner. The race was run at 7:50 p.m. and they used spotlights and holiday lights to mark the course. It was a fun and fast night.”
Also running in the Men’s 5,000-meter race at Marshfield Friday were Breckin Burzynski with a time of 17:59.78, Zach Haas with a time of 18:42.65, Vaughn Schneider with a time of 22:43.45, and Eli Lilla with a time of 26:15.88.
Competing in the Women’s 5,000 meters varsity race for Stanley-Boyd, meanwhile, Lucy Wundrow ran a time of 23:11.66 and Adyson Gustafson ran 25:19.07.
The Oriole varsity cross country runners next compete on Saturday Sept. 30 at Tower Ridge Recreation Area east of Altoona, the action set to begin at 10 a.m.
