The Oriole boys varsity has started the season with a win, defeating the Colby Hornets in an away game on Tuesday, Nov. 25 by a score of 73-43. The team scored 42 points in the first half followed by 31 in the second half.
Top point scorers against Colby include Charlie Hoel with 22 points and 20 rebounds, and Josiah Demske with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Also contributing points in Tuesday’s game were Troy Haas with 14 points, Brenner Myers with nine points, Connor Goebel and Kaden Parker with four points, and Landon Ewer, Braxton Demars, and Shyloh Wellner with one point each.
Orioles varsity boys head basketball coach Dakota Nichols shared more on how the game had went.
“For the first game of the season, the boys did a great job of maintaining their composure and playing at our own tempo,” he said. “We were able to dominate inside, shooting 64% and had 45 free throw attempts. We still have a lot of work to do before conference play begins.”
The Orioles now play Edgar on Monday, Dec. 8 at home. Game start is 7:15 p.m.
