The Oriole varsity football season is officially underway.
Meeting Colby on Friday, August 22 at Oriole Park, the Orioles came away with loss, falling to the Hornets 12-29. Orioles head football coach Brody Mahr shared thoughts after the game.
“Our guys showed a lot of heart on Friday,” he said. “We knew going in that Colby is a very physical football team, and they definitely challenged us in every phase of the game. What I’m really proud of is how our young players stepped up, battled, and fought through some tough situations. There’s a big difference between just being out there and actually rising to the challenge, and our kids grew as the game went on. Even though the scoreboard didn’t go our way, I truly believe we got better as a team Friday night.”
Notable for the night were Oriole touchdowns by Grant Dusick and Porter Goettl.
Now 0-1 overall for the season, the Orioles face Cadott at Cadott on Friday, August 29. Game start is 7:00 p.m.
