Continuing a challenging season, the seventh ranked Orioles fell to second ranked Fall Creek Thursday at home, the final score 60-16 in the Crickets favor.
Meeting on the Oriole home court, the matchup saw an aggressive Fall Creek blocking campaign, with occasional fumbles by the Orioles and an ineffective communication in the first half that kept them from scoring. As a result Fall Creek was able to build an early lead the Orioles were unable to overcome.
With Derks back and Seichter still on the bench, the game saw Lauren Potaczek get elbowed by the Crickets and Aliyah Allard go down without a whistle in the first half, a brief timeout to attend to the situation taking place.
Returning after halftime, the Orioles found themselves at a 30-point disadvantage 38-8, which in spite of effort and better communication they were unable to overcome.
Included in game stats for the night were 2 two pointers, a free throw and a 1 three pointer by Potacezek in the first half, along with a two pointer and free throw in the second. Lula Chwala scored a three pointer in the second half while Allard and Ava Prahl both made free throws.
The Orioles next face Thorp at Stanley-Boyd on Friday, Jan. 26. Game start time is 7:15 p.m.
