It was a live one Friday, Sept. 19, as a common pine snake made its way from the nearby wild to sun beneath the lights at Oriole Park.
Coming on the field in the fourth quarter, the (non-venomous) reptile was quickly removed by Jackson Gindt to the nearby track, coiling up against curious onlookers, before making its final exit from the field.
The game meanwhile went on, starting at 6:15 p.m. on account of the forecast—which did not come. The Orioles started the night with a strong defense in the game’s first half, before falling 49-14 to Mondovi.
As to the first half, the Orioles held Mondovi scoreless in the first quarter and to just 3 points in the second, ending the half 7-3 Orioles.
Come halftime the field saw Oriole parents form a tunnel for athletes as parent’s night announcements were made, while a winning 50/50 raffle ticket gained its recipient approximately $250.
Returning from halftime, the Buffalo charged back from their initial confusion to win the game, while an Oriole touchdown by Demske and extra point by Allard brought the Oriole pointboard to 14 in the fourth quarter.
Also taking place Friday but resolved were two incidents involving juveniles, one with a student telling others they had a small knife and another with an airsoft.
Administrators investigated immediately upon report, resulting in the involvement of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and peaceful resolution of the incidents.
No disruption was made to the football game.
