The Oriole varsity football team took the field Friday, Oct. 10 against Regis, coming away with a 43-19 loss.
Gunnar Goettl made a pair of rushing touchdowns, Josiah Demske making a touchdown reception for the night. Extra point was made by Jesse Allard.
Orioles Head Football Coach Brody Mahr shared more after the game.
“I’m proud of the way our kids went out and competed,” he said. “This is a much better football team than our record shows, and we knew that going in. Our guys were fearless, they didn’t back down from anything and we’ll take that mindset into every game we play.
“Our coaching staff put together solid game plans on both sides of the ball, and early on we executed well. As the game wore on, fatigue and inexperience started to show. We had some mental and physical breakdowns that good teams know how to capitalize on. That’s been an area of growth for us, learning how to finish games with the same execution and energy we start them with.
“The truth is, this is part of the process. We’re building habits that will carry not just into next week, but into future seasons. We don’t walk away from a loss feeling defeated, we walk away determined to learn and get better. Every snap is a lesson, and this team continues to respond the right way.”
