Starting the year April 1 against Augusta at home, the Oriole boys varsity took home a win, the final score 11-1 in the Orioles favor.
With a game against Ladysmith April 2 cancelled for weather, the Orioles returned to play Ellsworth and Blair Taylor later in the week. Final score against Ellsworth was 2-3 in the Panthers favor, while the score against Blair-Taylor was 0-6. Orioles head coach Ryan Sturm shared more on the team and what to do moving forward, the record now standing at 1-2 for the year.
“I have been really proud of how hard our baseball players have been playing and we are doing a good job of playing together as a team,” Sturm said. “This last week we ran into 2 really good pitchers and they shut down our hitting. We can definitely improve our approach at the plate and learn how to put the ball in play a little better to make the other team’s defense work. This has been a really fun team to coach.”
The Orioles next play against Bloomer on Friday April 12 at Bloomer. Game start is 5:00 p.m.
