Paul Flaten 1954 – 2022

Paul Flaten, age 67 of Fridley, Minnesota, passed away on November 30, 2022. Paul was born on December 10, 1954 to Victor and Lois Flaten in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He grew up in Stanley and graduated from Stanley-Boyd High in 1973. Paul is survived by his two children, Kayla Kennelly and Ryan Flaten, 3 grandchildren, Harper, Christian and Blake, his partner, Lucy Shoemaker and her children, Katie and Kayla, his brother, Dave Flaten and his sister, Vicky Flaten. Paul was preceded in death by his Mom and Dad, Lois and Victor Flaten and brothers, Terry and Bruce Flaten.

Paul was a vibrant man with a love for travel at an early age. Before the age of 30, he lived and worked in Germany while also living in India and later traveled through Asia Pacific with his late brother Bruce.

Paul loved his family, first and foremost. His favorite place was Lake Holcombe, Wisconsin, where he would spend a week every year for a family reunion. He loved hunting with his brothers, son and nephew. He enjoyed photography, woodworking and coming up with new inventions. He adored his soulmate, Lucy, children, and was a patient, loving Grandpa. Paul was the type of person who would always bring humor to any situation, even if it was a cheesy Dad joke. He was loved by many and will forever live in our hearts.

Services will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Stanley, Wisconsin on December 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kenneth Schmidt officiating. Inurnment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery- Stanley. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at church. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the North Memorial Health Foundation , https://northmemorial. com/donate/ , an organization where Paul was a dedicated volunteer for 12+ years for heart patients that needed support dealing with their heart health. He was extremely passionate about helping these patients cope based on his past experiences.
