Taking to the court at halftime Friday, Jan. 26 as the Orioles girls varsity played the Cardinals, Relevé Dance Company of Stanley wowed crowds with three separate dance routines, corresponding to three different performance team groups: Emerald, Sapphire, and Pearl.
Beginning with the Emerald performance team, the show moved next to Sapphire, and Pearl. Relevé studio owner and director Colette Wirtala shared more on Relevé Dance Company after the performance.
“Our performance team is a part of our competition dance team,” she said. “This is the first time that we have done a half-time performance. We travel throughout the spring to dance competitions throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota, competing in a variety of styles such as jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, musical theater & hip hop. We added the basketball game half-time dances this year to give our dancers more local performance opportunities. Our entire studio dances in our annual recital, which is a big show we put on in the spring.”
Relevé Dance Company is a studio for kids ages 2-18. To learn more about what they have to offer, check out their website www.relevedancecompany.com. They are also active on Facebook and Instagram.
“We are so thankful for the support from the community and enthusiasm from the crowd.,” Wirtala said of Friday. “Our dancers love hearing the cheers and feed off of that energy when they perform.”
They will be performing in Stanley again this Friday, Feb. 2 at the boys varsity basketball game which starts at 7:15 p.m.
