ing 39 minutes earlier and scheduled to run until 2:00 p.m.

For just ten dollars, those seeking a good lunch could get a half-chicken, together with a piece of bread and butter and a square desert. There were no brats this year, though that hardly seemed to deter those coming through the fire department parking lot.

With fire personnel taking money extended out car windows and kids staffing the collection table the annual fundraiser was a clear success, as a return to the site two hours later at 1:40 p.m. showed that things had already wrapped up.

Meanwhile and at the same time, plowing was taking place in the nearby field, as farmers begin to till the soil in preparation for planting, meaning that motorists should be alert to share the road, lest the Boyd Fire and EMS need to be called for assistance.

Should that be the case however, it will at least help to know the department is both well staffed and supported.
