The D.R. Moon Memorial Library is proud to recognize Royal Credit Union (RCU) for their early commitment in supporting the Building Connections Campaign for the purpose of expanding and restoring the library’s 125-year-old building. RCU’s generous $110,000 gift reflects a long-standing dedication to strengthening communities served and investing in spaces where people can learn, gather, and grow.
Upon the occasion of presenting this gift to library representatives and the Stanley community, the President of the RCU Foundation, John Sackett, took the opportunity to say, “The core purpose of both the Credit Union and Foundation is to make a positive impact on the lives that we touch and the communities that we touch, this being one of them. The Foundation has always supported initiatives that foster education, health, and the arts. We believe in building community, not just through words, but through meaningful action and the creation of spaces that bring people together. Certainly, this is one of those kinds of places.”
President Sackett continued, “The D.R. Moon Memorial Public Library has a long history of serving the community in Stanley and beyond. Since 1901, the library has provided books, programming, and assistance to the community. This beautiful building is on the National Register of Historic Places, it’s gorgeous. And the planned remodel and expansion will not only preserve the essence of the space, it will create a safer and more accessible library.”
Throughout the years, RCU has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting local initiatives, including many library projects, in order to enhance education, community development, and opportunity. Their contribution to the Building Connections Campaign is just one example of their continual dedication to helping communities thrive and ensuring important resources like the local library remain vibrant and accessible.
“Royal Credit Union stepped forward early on in our campaign with a very generous gift,” Library Director Elizabeth Miniatt said, “We are so grateful for their initiative and leadership in helping to bring this vision to life and ensuring the library continues to be a place where connections are made, ideas are shared, and our community gathers together.”
In honor of this incredible gift, the new library space designed for children and young families will be called the Royal Credit Union Foundation Children’s Area.
“We couldn’t be prouder to recognize RCU’s gift in this special way,” Director Miniatt said of the naming for the new children’s area. “A primary motivation for this campaign was to provide an excellent library for the next generation and into the future. RCU’s support has played a key role in making that initiative a success.”
Because of the generosity and insight of donors like Royal Credit Union, the library building project continues to move forward, bringing the library closer to creating a space that will serve as a hub for learning, creativity, and connection for all.
President Sackett said, “Libraries are so much more than a place to get books. They are a vital part of the community, enhancing the quality of life for everyone. We are proud to support this project and will ensure that the library will continue to be a part of growth and nurture lifelong learning and encourage outreach into the community.”
The D.R. Moon Library extends its sincere thanks to Royal Credit Union for their initiative and generosity in investing in the future of our library and our community.
