Roydean (Roy) Francis Samplawski, 78, of Bandera, TX passed away on March 14, 2023, after a long illness of COPD, followed by pneumonia and COVID. Roy was born October 21, 1944, in Stanley, Wisconsin to Roy E. and Ettamae Samplawski.
Roy graduated from Stanley Boyd High School in 1962. After graduation Roy proudly served in the U. S. Navy from 1962 to 1969. Roy was stationed in Lemoore, California. He served on aircraft carriers during Vietnam-the Ticonderoga, and the USS Coral Sea.
Roy married Lenore Pitner in 1975 and they lived in various places like Omaha, NE, Albert Lea, MN, Blaine, MN, Rush City, MN and Bandera, TX. He was a member of the American Legion Post 157 in Bandera, Texas. His hobbies included fishing, boating, hunting, snowmobiling in Minnesota, watching football especially the Minnesota Vikings.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents Roy E. and Ettamae. Roy is survived by his wife Lenore, daughters Rhonda Mae Green (Paul), Deanna Lynn Ralph (Richard), grandchildren Hudson Green, Connor Green, Cheradin Ralph, Kodey Ralph, stepdaughters Bobbie Jean Ruhs (Ronald), Lori Ann Reynolds (Kurt), step-grandchildren Nicolas Ricceri, Tori Anderson, and Leah Reynolds. He is furter survived by his siblings, Darlene (Dayton) Christenson, Robert Samplawski, Darrell (Jessica) Samplawski, and Judy Samplawski.
A Memorial Service was held March 30, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. Interment will be held at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin at a later date.
