Taking place under the direction of music director Sam Zitterkopf along with band director Devon Wenndt, the Stanley-Boyd Elementary students gave a Christmas Concert Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the school.
Starting out with a concert etiquette rap by Denise Gagne and Denese Odegard, the students welcomed concert guests and gave the standard reminders in style: cell phones off, calm and camera control requested. Starting with the Kindergarten to second grade performance at 6:15 p.m., the evening saw third to fifth grade perform be ginning at 7:30 p.m.
Starting with the kindergarten to second grade performance, all students performed “Jingle Bells” by Johnny Marks, followed with “Snowman Jump” by David and Anne Ellsworth from the kindergartners, along with “I want to be an Elf” and “Candy Cane, Oh Candy Cane,” both by Teresa Jennings.
Returning to the all grades performance, students performed “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” by Fred J. Coots and Haven Gil- lepsie, with the first grade delighting concert goers with “Winter Wiggles,” “Hurry Santa,” and “Let’s Build a Gingerbread House,” all by Teresa Jennings. Following this all grades performed “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” by Johnny Marks.
Starting out next, the second graders performed “A Gift for Santa” and “Dancing Snow Dog,” both by Teresa Jennings, along with “Hawaiian Christmas” by Karl Hitzemann Closing out the kindergarten to second grade performance, the assembled students performed “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” as arranged by Teresa Jennings.
Opening the third to fifth grade perfor –
mance at 7:30 p.m., the concert started out with “Rockin’Around the Christmas Tree” by Johnny Marks," the fifth grade band then per forming “Jingle Bells” by J. S. Pierpont and “Up On A Housetop” by Tim Lautzenheiser.
Following this, the fourth grade performed “Little Drummer BAG” by John Riggio, with third grade performing “Don’t Forget to be Thankful” and “We Will Jingle” by Teresa Jennings, along with “Holiday Hoedown” by John Riggio.
Following Third grade, the fifth grade performed “Ding Dong Merrily on High” by John Riggio, with the Fourth Grade performing “Christmas in the Valley, “The Sounds of Santa’s Workshop,” and “Sing for Joy.”
After this all grades performed a traditional rendering of “Over the River and Through the Woods.” Fifth grade performed “To All A Merry Season” and Here Comes the Snow by Teresa Jennings, along with “Santa’s Getting Fit For Christmas” by Mike Wilson.
All grades then closed out the concert with “Glo-Glo-Glorious” by Teresa Jennings.
In addition, special thanks was made to the custodial and cleaning staff for the extra work they do, while Alison Becker and Ryan Sturm were thanked for letting their teaching space be used.
Also on the list of adults to thank were Hillary Fitzsimmons, Jennifer Castellano, Lynn Hause, Lynn Bauer, and Renee Mahal for “helping in every way possible!” Closing thanks was given to the elementary staff for their flexibility and support, a happy holiday season wished to all.
