The Stanley-Boyd music program held its spring concert on Monday, March 23 in the Stanley-Boyd high school gymnasium.
Kicking off at 6:30 p.m., the Middle and High School Spring Concert saw things start with the Fifth Grade Band , which performed “Starsplitter Fanfare” by Brian Balmages.
The Middle School Band performed three numbers, including “The Peasant Village Dance” by David R. Holsinger, “Tides” by Brian Calhoun, and March “Pasodoble” by Jack Wilds.
The Middle School Choir performed in turn four selections, including “Wangolo,” a traditional Haitian Folk Song called “Wangolo” with featured solosits Evelyn Czubakowski and Henry Plombon as arranged by Ruth Morris Gray, “Michael Finnegan” by Mark Burrows, “Come In From The Firefly Darkness” by Amy Feldman Bernon with featured soloists Kaylee Krizan, Kendall Knox, and Kylie Klovas, and a traditional spiritual called “Let Me Ride” as arranged by Roger Emerson
The High School Band performed three numbers, including “Encanto” by Robert W. Smith, “Voices of the Sky” by Samuel Hazo, and “Semper Fidelis” by John Phillip Souza as arranged by Andrew Balent.
The High School Concert Choir performed “Hands are Knockin’” by Kyle Pederson.
As for band and choir events still to come this school year, State Solo and Ensemble arrives Saturday, May 2 with competition at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, while a choir and band variety show is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Stanley-Boyd.
