This year’s Dorian Band Festival, hosted by Luther College in Decorah, IA, featured 450 students from over 60 Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa school districts.  Students were placed into one of four ensembles (3 traditional symphonic-style wind ensembles and one jazz ensemble), and spent two days on the university campus rehearsing the pieces selected for their designated ensemble.  Stanley-Boyd was represented by five students this year, pictured below.  Anyone wanting to view the recording of the concert can find it under the “Live” section of the Luther College Music Department YouTube page at “Dorian Band Festival Grand Concert,” the full link being https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kpefNMom88
Upcoming band/choir events at Stanley-Boyd include a State Solo/Ensemble on May 2 at UW-Eau Claire as well as a Variety Show & Pops Concert on Saturday, May 19 at 2 p.m.
