Eleven Stanley-Boyd students will soon be heading to Skills USA regional competition at Menomonie, due to take place Feb. 27 to 28. Skills USA advisor Sam Goettl shared more on the details.
“We will be having 11 students competing this year in four different areas,” he said “I have three students competing in the High School CO2 dragster contest, two students in Carpentry, three students in Auto Mechanics, and three individuals in the Promotional Bulletin Board. We are competing in a couple of new competitions this year, so we are both excited and a little nervous on how it plays out.”
Competition for the categories Stanley-Boyd is participating in takes place Friday, Feb. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with judging to follow, awards and closing ceremonies taking place at 12:30 p.m.
Competitions for the two day event is organized as follows for high school students, the Automotive Service Technology competition held at Menomonie High School on 1715 5th Street West in Menomonie:

Those who place in the regional competition for Skills USA will then advance to participate in the 52nd annual SkillsUSA Wisconsin State Leadership and Skills Conference in Madison. Other competitors in the category can participate in the State Leadership and Skills Conference until the maximum number of competitors in the category is reached. State competitions will occur at the Alliant Energy Center at 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way and Madison Area Technical College (MATC) at 1701 Wright St.
