SBAA board holds meeting to plan for 2021 reunion

Posted

Following the Stanley-Boyd Alumni Association's Annual Membership Meeting, held on November 9, the Board of Director’s moved into its regular meeting scheduled for the same day. President Ken Seufzer, after calling the meeting to order, asked for a moment of silence in memory of former alumni president and board member Dennis Schneider who recently passed.

Secretary Eileen (Stangret) Samplawki presented the minutes from the July 6, 2020 meeting which were approved. Financial Reports for the first three quarters of 2020 were distributed and gone over by Treasurer Dave Jankoski. In Jankoski’s final presentation, a budget for 2021 was proposed and approved by the Board. The only significant change from the 2020 budget will be the increase from two to three $1,000 scholarships to be awarded in 2021.

Tess (Poulter) Burlingame was thanked again for her willingness to serve on the board. It was evident from the discussions around membership issues, media usage, and fund raising that her knowledge and input will be a great asset to the organization. President Seufzer noted the 2021 committee assignments he had made. It was announced that there remain three vacancies on the Board.

President Seufzer optimistically reviewed the operational details of having a 2021 All School Reunion on Saturday, October 2. The Classes of 1960 and 1961 will co-host the event. Carole (Henkins) Licht and Dave Jankoski will represent the Class of 1960 and Sue (Heagle) Jessick and Mildred (Schreier) Mickett will represent the Class of 1961 in co-hosting roles. Cohosting was the result of the Class of 1960 having the reunion canceled in 2020. Liaison with the school administration, office staff and custodial leadership will be handled again by Dave Jankoski. Seufzer noted that there will be 125 copies of the 1960 and 1961 programs available at the reunion. Seufzer also reviewed with the attendees the Host Class Responsibilities, Honorary Membership guidelines and Strategic Goals for 2021.

As indicated at the Annual Meeting, all board members were asked to continue their service for an additional year. In the annual election of officers, Ken Seufzer was returned as president, Jean Geist, vice-president, Eileen Samplawski as secretary and Dave Janksoki as treasurer.

The meetings for 2021 will be held on April 5, July 12, after the October 2 reunion and November 8. In closing Marion (Votoyvich) Walsdorf was again thanked for the treats she provided during the meeting.

The donor thank you ad that appears elsewhere in this edition of The Stanley Republican was circulated for any editing needed/suggested. A thank you goes out to all who have supported SBAA in any way during this very unusual year. May the year 2021 treat all of us all better!!
