SCA shares info on food options in trying times

The Stanley Community Association (SCA) has helped raise awareness of resident food options, following the news that federal SNAP benefits would not go out Nov. 1, due to an ongoing federal government shutdown in Washington, D.C.

Founded in 2021 with city council support, the SCA is a non-profit that exists to promote the interests of Stanley and the surrounding area.

“We know these are uncertain times for many people,” the group shared recently. “Here are some local resources we know of. WiC remains open.

You can also look on findhelp.org for some resources for housing, healthcare, etc.”

With that the group listed area food pantry options, as below:

  1. Trinity Vineyard Church Food Pantry, on the first and third Tuesday of the month. 715-206-0137.
  1. The Stanley-Boyd Area Food Pantry at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on Fourth Avenue. Distribution is on the First Thursday of the month from 4 to 6 p.m. Needed to be in the Stanley-Boyd school District. Contact phone number is 715-644-3665.
  2. Feed My People Food Bank will have pop up food distributions at St. John’s Lutheran Church parking lot, 215 East Seminary Street in Cadott. Nov. 4 and 18, along with Dec. 2 and 16 from 1 to 2 p.m. Phone number 715-835-9415.

All of these sites could use volunteers, the SCA said. “Please reach out if able to give even a few hours.”

Also among those helping out  in the community are Tom Larson of Reclaimed Tavern and the Community Table Eau Claire.

“Tom at Reclaimed Tavern is offering a free meal for those who are having a hard time right now and need one for their children,” the SCA shared. “You go in and order the ‘Reclaimed Way.’” The deal goes on through December.

For those in need, Warm Kids Wisconsin works to provide new boots and snow pants for children in need form Pk to fifth grade. They can be reached at 715-206-0616.

Lastly, the Community Table Eau Claire meanwhile has a daily meal offering, while the ADRC has both food and clothing resources.

The Community Table Eau Claire can be reached at 715-835-4977. Its meal schedule is posted on its website at www.thecommunitytable.org and includes Sunday dinner from 3 to 4 p.m., Monday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday dinner from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Wednesday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday dinner from 5 to 6:15 p.m., and Saturday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
