The Oriole cross country team hosted it’s only home meet of the season on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Junior Janelle Schesel placed second in the girls race behind only Rebecca Hornby from the Chippewa Valley Lightning Bolts. Schesel’s teammates Alexa Liszewski and Ady Gustafson finished 9 and 12 in the field of 35 runners in the girls race.
In the boys race Zach Haas led the Orioles followed closely by Breckin Burzynski and Lukas Milas. The boys finished 9, 10, and 11 out of 59 runners. The other scoring runners for the boys were Dale Sayles and Joey Henderson. That set of five boys earned third place out of the eight teams at the meet.
“It was a sunny, perfect day. Not the fastest times we are going to see all season, but it was a great feeling to have everyone run well on our home course,” Coach Mahr evaluated, “I like the direction this team and the program are headed.”
The Orioles’ next race is at Levis Mound Trail Center on Tuesday, September 14.
