The Stanley-Boyd School Board is seeking taxpayer input on a proposed new secure entrance and district office relocation project.
Set for Monday, Jan. 19 in the high school library, the meeting comes as the board was briefed by CESA 10 at the regular December board meeting, holding off decision pending public feedback as the project came in estimated at $2.89 million in total project, above the $2 million limit the board set. Idea for the project that would be paid for with Fund 46 Capital Improvement dollars but no state aid originated in comments that the school board received during public engagement over a failed referendum for a high school gym expansion, which did not take place.
With project costs for the new secure entrance and district office relocation coming in above estimates, board member Chad Verbeten recommended getting public feedback before making a final decision.
“We are representatives of our constituency,” he said, “and this is a big decision.”
Motion to postpone a decision on the proposed secure entrance and district office remodel was then made by Verbeten and seconded by Toni Seidl.
With no definitive action taken on the project at the Dec. 22 school board meeting, the public is invited to a special meeting for public input on Monday, Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library.
