Newmobileapponwayforeasierparent access to school district information
by Joseph Back
Ready or not, here it comes: the first day of school for the new school year at Stanley- Boyd! Making its debut Thursday August 18, students will return to classes at the Stanley campus, with Wednesday early release meaning students get out (on Wednesdays) at 2:25 p.m.
Plan on it. With a monthly Board Conversation taking place Monday in the high school library now largely recovered from heavy rains, parents can expect the release of a Stanley-Boyd mobile app to help them have access to information in a more evcient way. So when might it be available?
“We were originally told the end of August but we are not sure of the exact date yet,” su- perintendent Jeu Koenig said when asked.
Also on the list are updates this year, meanwhile, were some to the school website along with a new elementary gym floor.
As to what kids will need on the first day, those attend ing the Boyd Early Learning Center should have one large backpack and an extra set of clothes with the child’s name on it to be kept at the school. Children’s belongs should be labeled with their name throughout the younger grades.
Shifting from Boyd Early Learning over to Stanley, the kindergarten supply list includes one large back pack, a kindergarten rest mat, and an extra set of clothes.
A large backpack will also be needed by first to fifth grad –
ers, with fourth and fifth grad – ers needing a recorder. They can be purchased for $5.00 at open house, along with being passed down from older kids to the younger grades. The district asks that you not buy a recorder from a retail store.
With school starting August 18, one last reminder

should be shared: follow the signs posted on the south side of East Fourth Avenue by the school about not parking. The high travc area is a poten tial hazard, and cooperation from everyone can ensure a safe start to the school year!
