Chippewa County is seeing its biggest surge in positive cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic hit the area in the spring.
There currently are 664 active cases in Chippewa County, with 136 cases reported Oct. 25 alone.
In Stanley, employees of Stanley Correctional Institution reported that there are at least 40-50 positive COVID-19 cases. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections data site shows 44 active cases at SCI. In all, 2,085 incarcerated individuals at SCI have been tested for COVID-19. The state DOC site shows there are 11 staff members with COVID-19.
