A business on South Broadway has a new name and ownership.
Formerly known as South Town Auto Repair, the business at 550 South Broadway will now be known as J3 Racing and Automotive, owned by Justin Schwarz.
“One big change is that we’re going to be open Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” Schwarz said of taking over ownership. Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the business is named for a racing outfit, the ‘3’ stand-in for “Trey” and a reference to Schwarz’s racing partner.
Schwarz shared some personal background with the paper.
“I have 10 years experience in the automotive industry,” he said. “I started at 18 as a lube technician and worked my way up by 23 to lead tech at a shop in Eleva. During COVID in 2020 that shop went under and I lost my job with them. I hit the road as an unbranded mobile mechanic from there and in 2024 I started J3 Racing with my racing partner Trey Sleik and branded my mobile mechanic business in Chippewa as J3 Racing and Automotive. Amongst other small changes, I am partnered with Nicklaus Noonan of Nick’s Auto Assist, who does towing in the area and will be offering the best price available for tow ins to the shop! I do a bit of charity work in the Chippewa Valley where I try to find sponsors for parts and donate my labor so that we can help a person in need within our community and I will be bringing that same outreach to the Stanley area with me! My fiancee Paige and my three kids Milo, Otto, and Nova are my biggest push and inspiration, everything I am trying to accomplish at J3 is for their future! I purchased the shop from Barry who wants to let everyone know that I have his best regards and he vouches for my business going forward.”
Among the services offered at J3 Racing and Automotive are general automotive repair, tires, oil change, performance parts, brakes, and more. The shop is also currently running a promotion where hunters can bring a buck by the shop and receive a playing card good for either $5 off (8 points and under) or $10 off (8 points or better).
