The Stanley Sportsman’s Club continued a tradition of of future sportsmen as well as sportswomen in the area by holding its First Annual “Shop with a Sportsman” event, in which one lucky sixth grade boy and one lucky sixth grade girl from the local schools received a chance to make a $300 shopping spree October 3rd at 9:00 a.m., having been selected from contest entrants in a drawing held September 23, with both the drawing and shopping done at Oemig’s Sport Shop in Stanley. The lucky winner for sixth grade boys in the area turned out to be Jaxen LeTendre, who took a trip around the store guided by Michael Troyer and selected a three-tray fishing tackle box by Flambeau and a Quantum Optix fishing reel, among other choices. Meanwhile for the sixth-grade girls the winner was Anna Krizan, with Jackie Oemig for a store guide. Anna made many selections as well, including boots and an inner tube.
