The Stanley-Boyd boys basketball team got off to a good start in Western Cloverbelt Conference play Thursday, downing Cadott 61-34. S-B is 1-0 in conference action with games at home against McDonell Friday and Osseo-Fairchild Monday. Tuesday S-B travels to play at state-ranked Saint Croix Central in a non-conference game.
Against Cadott, the Orioles held the Hornets to just 10 first half points while racing out to a 19-point lead.
Carsen Hause led all scorers on the night with 16 points to lead three Orioles in double figures. Cooper Nichols scored 11, and Mike Karlen had 10. Lucas Smith was right behind with nine points. Landon Karlen and Anthony Candella scored seven each and Logan Burzynski added one point.
The Orioles fell in a non-conference game against Marathon Monday night, 67-39. Hause and Smith each scored 11 points to pace S-B, and Burzynski had five.
