The Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross Blood Drive that was scheduled for Friday, December 23 was cancelled by the Red Cross due to the weather. This is the first time in approximately 37 years a drive has been cancelled. It is not know if any other drive was ever cancelled. The Red Cross and volunteers made every effort to let all donors who had an appointment know of the cancellation. Fortunately it seems that most, if not all, donors got the word.
All the donors are appreciated for making an appointment and for being understanding in this situation. The day was windy making for some dangerous wind chills. It’s always difficult to come to the decision whether to hold an event in spite of the weather, or cancel because of the concern for everyone whose safety is always a top priority.
The next Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross Blood Drive will be Monday, March 6, from 12:00 to 6:00. Anyone wanting an appointment may call Donella Christianson at 715-6443638 or email at [email protected] The drive should be online after all dates are confirmed with the City of Stanley sometime after January 1.
Wishing everyone the best in 2023.
