Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross Blood Drive Exceeds Goal

The Stanley-Boyd Red Cross Blood Drive collected 64 unit of blood on August 5, exceeding the goal of 57. There were 68 people who came in to donate, eight donors donating power reds for a total of sixteen units, 48 donating whole blood, with 8 deferrals, along with some cancellations and no-shows.

Overall, things went well. During the drive the new Red Cross computer program that was implemented this week was having some issues and caused a back-up. This made things divcult for the Red Cross stau as well as donors and volunteers. All donors seemed to be very understanding and patient and the Red Cross stau and Donella were very appreciative. The Red Cross stau assured us that they will be bringing these issues to the attention of the supervisor.

Those assisting with this drive were the City of Stanley who allowed the use of the Community Center for the drive, FFA Alumni for the cheese sticks, Stanley Lions and Partners and other site volunteers, volunteers who called donors, and all the donors who came in to donate.

The next Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross blood drive will be Friday, October 14 at the Stanley Community Center. Appointments may be made by calling Donella Christianson at 715-644-3638, going on line, or calling the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767.

The December 23 drive is also on-line so donors may make an appointment by going on-line, calling the Red Cross or Donella Christianson at the above numbers.
