The Stanley-Boyd Red Cross Blood Drive collected 55 unit s of blood on June 2, just two short of the goal of 57. There were a total of 63 appointments, 55 people who came in to donate, four donors donating power reds for a total of eight units, 47 donating whole blood, with 3 deferrals, along with some cancellations and no-shows.

Those assisting with this drive were the City of Stanley who allowed the use of the Community Center for the drive, Stanley Lions and Partners and other site volunteers, volunteers who called donors, and all the donors who came in to donate.

When Donella is at the drive and cannot be reached, it would be helpful if donors who need to cancel after 10:00 am on the day of the drive would call the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767 as soon as possible. A message on my answering machine doesn’t reach me in time to allow donors to be able fill those slots on-line.

The next Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross blood drive will be Friday, August 5 at the Stanley Community Center. Appointments may be made by calling Donella Christianson at 715-644-3638 or going on line, or calling the Red Cross at the above number.

Other upcoming drives are, October 14, and December 23, at the Stanley Community Center.
