The Red Cross collected 51 units of blood at the Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday, August 6, with a goal of 56. The goal fell short due to a staff medical issue causing the drive to have a late start and some donors not being able to donate. Donors were very gracious about the delay, with some donors being asked to reschedule their appointment for another day. The staff member is okay and doing well.

Those assisting with this drive were Trinity Vineyard Church, who allowed the use of their facility, FFA Alumni who donate string cheese for every blood drive, volunteers from Stanley Lions Club and Partners With OLVH, other site volunteers, the volunteers who called donors, and all the donors who took their time to come in.

The next Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross Blood Drive is October 15 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church from 12:00 to 6:00 pm. If you would like to make an appointment for this drive, please call Donella Christianson at 715-644-3638.

The Christmas drive is December 23 because the 24 falls on Friday making it the Red Cross staff’s day off. If COVID is still an issue at that time, the drive may be held at the Boyd school gym for more room.

Other upcoming drives are Monday, March 7, 2022 at Our Savior’s, and Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Holy Family Hall.
