The Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross collected 56 units of blood on Thursday, August 14, just meeting the goal. There were 62 people coming in to donate, with some donors not showing up, cancellations, 10 deferrals, and 2 bags not filling. The morning of the drive there were 66 appointments. The 10 power red donors made up for 10 of the 12 deferrals, plus a couple of walk-ins. Without these donors, the goal would not have been met.
Those assisting with this drive were the City of Stanley who allowed the use of the Community Center for the drive, FFA Alumni for donating cheese sticks for every drive, registration volunteer Linda, the volunteer who donated the “goodies”, canteen volunteer Norm, Joyce and Mary for calling donors, Charlotte for helping coordinate appointments, the Red Cross staff, and all the donors who came in to donate.
The next Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross Blood Drive will be Thursday, October 9, 12 to 6pm at the Community Center. Other upcoming drives are Monday, December 22, 12 to 6pm., Monday, March 16, 2026, 12 to 6pm, and Thursday, May 14, 2026. Appointments can be made for any or all of these drives by calling Donella at 715-644-3638, Red Cross at 800-733-2767, or visit RedCrossBlood.org. All of them are now on-line.
