The Wizard of Oz is coming to Stanley.
Arriving October 15, and continuing the 18th and 19th, the classic Disney tale based on the novel by L. Frank Baum will come to Stanley-Boyd High School, courtesy of the Drama Club. Shows will take place Wednesday Oct. 15, Saturday, Oct. 18, and Sunday, Oct. 19. Showtime on Wednesday and Saturday will be 7 p.m. while Sunday’s showtime will be 1:30 p.m. Presale tickets for the show are $8 for students and $12 for adults, with ticket prices increasing to $10 for kids and $15 for adults at the door.
Stanley-Boyd Drama Club Advisor Kayleigh Steinmetz shared more on the play’s plot line.
“The Wizard of Oz is about a young girl who is swept away in a Tornado after getting into a fight with her family,” she said. “She is trying to defend her dog Toto from the terrible Mrs. Gulch. When she wakes up after the tornado, she is in Munchkinland, and she sets off on a journey to find the Great and Powerful Oz. She meets the Scarecrow, Tinman, and Lion along the way. Along with Glinda the Good Witch, they help her find her way back home. There are some slight differences from the movie, but it sticks pretty closely to the same ideas.”
Come on out to ‘The Wizard of Oz’ next weekend!
