On Dec. 9, Stanley-Boyd FFA members continued a beloved 15-year tradition by decorating sugar cookies with residents of The Homeplace. FFA Advisor Jordan Donnerbauer shared that the heartwarming intergenerational event is aimed at benefiting both the community and the students. Sarah Summers, the Life Enrichment Coordinator at The Homeplace, emphasized the joy the residents experience, saying, “The residents definitely enjoyed decorating the cookies with the kids. It was so nice to see all of their faces light up.” She explained that these community events offer valuable benefits for both the residents and the students, with many residents, especially those without nearby family, looking forward to the tradition each year. “For the residents, especially ones that don’t have family close, it brings them an element of that, and decorating cookies sometimes brings them back to their younger days.” She also pointed out the positive impact on the students. “It’s good for the kids because they may later decide that working in healthcare might be something that they could explore as it is a very rewarding job to bring such light to
