Oriole girls fall to Regis and Fall Creek
“The team did some great things in this game, we just need to keep building off the positive plays we made,” Coach Becker said of the home game lost to Regis by just one point Tues- day. With the final score 45 – 44, it might have been different—and still could be in the future, given how close things were in the end. As to Fall Creek and a Friday away matchup, Coach Becker had this to say.
“The Fall Creek game performance was disappointing, especially after losing the game against them at home, off a last second shot,” she said. “I really thought we would come and give a tougher fight. Obviously, it helps if we make baskets, that’s the name of the game. We struggled very much to get the ball in the hoop second half.”
With a final score of 48 – 28 Friday at the Fall Creek gym, things didn’t quite go as they could.
Returning to Tuesday’s game against Regis, Lily Hoel and Leslie Derks were score leaders, Derks coming away with nine game points while Hoel came away with 17. Of the latter, all but one were two point baskets, while for Derks it was three two pointers and three layups. The Oriole foul tally totaled seven in each half against Regis, for a total of 14 team fouls.
As to scoring meanwhile, Teagen Beck- er scored three points, Jessica Hazuga, Kayte Licht, and Tina Benson each scored four and Mallory Eslinger scored three,.
The Oriole girls varsity next play the Frederick Gunn School Thursday, at Stanley-Boyd. Game tip off for varsity is 7:15 p.m.
