Stanley-Boyd heads to Bluejay Challenge at Merrill Jan. 7

Team places 10th of 25 at Saturday event, also wrestled in triangular at Colfax Jan. 5

Heading to the Bluejay Challenge at Merrill on Saturday, Jan. 7, the Stanley-Boyd varsity wrestling team placed 10th of 25 overall, scoring 208.0 total points.

As to individual wrestling results, here’s how the wrestlers did at Merrill.

Starting out in 120-pound weight class, Justin McManus (12-8) placed eighth and scored 22.0 team points, losing by fall (1:01) in the seventh place match to Noah Evenson (12-6) of Boyceville.

As for the 126-pound weight class, Dale Sayles (8-11) placed 13th and scored 12.0 team points, winning by fall (3:27) over Keegan Schoone (4-6) of Tomahawak in the 13th place match.

For the 132-pound weight class at Merrill, Breckin Burzynski (15-5) placed 1st and scored 46.0 team points, winning in sudden victory (SV-1 5-3) over Elisas Glinski(29-6) of Crandon.

In the 138-pound weight class for Stanley-Boyd, Troy Trevino (14-7) placed fourth and scored 32.0 team point, losing by major decision (MD 18-6) in the third place match to Callum Wheeler (20-3) of Merrill.

In the 145-pound weight class for Stanley-Boyd, Landon Hoel (11-8) placed 9th and scored 23.0 team points, winning by decision (Dec 8-7) over Grant Salber (13-9) of Marathon.

In the 152-pound weight class at Merrill, Stanley-Boyd’s Aaron Strum (9-9) placed 13th and scored 11.0 team points, winning by fall (0:48) in the thirteenth place match over Adam Foss (3-3) of Cheek-Weyerhauser-Priairie Farm.

In the 160-pound weight class, John Burgoyne-Mellor (55) placed 13th and scored 11.0 team points for Stanley-Boyd, winning by fall (0:54) over Coye Brillowskli (7-6) of Wittenberg- Birnamwood. As to the 170-pound weight class, Dylan Seichter (4-14) placed 15th and scored 6.0 team points, receiving a bye in the 15th place match after wrestling from Round 1 through the Consolation Bracket.

In the 195-pound weight class for Stanley-Boyd, Caden Kopek (4-9) placed 14th and scored 6.0 team point, losing by fall (2:29) to Blake Younker (6-5) of Tomahawk in the thirteenth place match.

In the 220-pound weight class at Merrill, Willy Graham (16-8) placed 4th and scored 33.0 team points, losing by decision (Dec 7-0) in the third place match to Landon Saglin (16-6) of Lakeland-Mercer.

Closing out results for Merrill with the 285-pound weight class, Damien Seichter (9-10) placed fourteenth and scored 7.0 team points, losing by fall (3:19) to Luis Nava Rojas (1411) of Abbotsford/Colby in the thirteenth place match.

The Orioles also wrested at Colfax on Thursday, Jan. 5.
