Coming off a 5-7 loss to Menomonie June 14, the Stanley-Boyd Legion team brought home an 11-6 win against Altoona June 20.
With Altoona taking an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, Stanley-Boyd surged back, making one run in the second and four in the third, before adding one in the fifth and another five in the sixth to come out 11-6.
Taking the lead by the third, Stanley-Boyd saw Dawson Ewer walk, Alex Williams hit a single, Devon Parker hit another single, and Haydn Gustafson score a double, all crossing home plate before the inning was over.
With Altoona attempting to retake the lead in the fourth, Parker made a double, helping Stanley-Boyd tie the game at six in the top of the fifth. From there it just got better.
Opening the sixth, Stanley-Boyd saw runs runs on five hits, a single by Carter Weltzin sending two runners across home plate.
Pitching against Altoona, meanwhile, Landon Ewer gave up just five hits and two runs over four and one third innings, striking out two and walking three, while on the batting side JJ Heller and Koeben Wundrow saw action, each scoring a run to add to the Thursday point tally.
All told, the Stanley-Boyd Legion team saw 11 points over 11 hits, holding Altoona at bay while Gustafson and Williams scored multiple hits for Stanley-Boyd, with Parker taking home three in all.
Making 12 hits of their own, Altoona was only able to capitalize on six, no runs scored after the top of the sixth by either team.
