Taking to the court against Elk Mound on Tuesday, September 5, the Oriole varsity spikers came away with a 2-3 match spread, winning matches 30-28 and 25-23, but ultimately falling to the Mounders with three other matches, Elk Mound scoring 35-21, 25-22, and 25-23 in match play.

Taking back to the court Saturday, September 9 at Merrill for a varsity invitational, the Orioles put up a fight, but without placing at the event.

Head coach Karley Wiensch shared some thoughts on the season thus far after the scores were tallied.

“The tournament had all divisions represented there,” she said. “Division 4 all the way to division 1.” Most to all these teams that were at this tournament made it to post season or even played at state last year.

“This is a really highly competitive tournament and we learned some key things this weekend and hope to use the experience we had into payoffs tomorrow.”

The Oriole varsity volleyball team next compete at home Tuesday, September 19, after traveling to Thorp September 12.
