Taking to the court at home against Osseo-Fairchild on Thursday, Oct. 5, the Stanley-Boyd varsity spikers took town the Thunder in five sets, the final score being 3-2 Orioles. Also heading to Somerset this past week for a tournament, the Oriole varsity took third overall, besting Ashland along with Ellsworth and Glenwood City. Oriole Head Coach Karley Wiensch shared her thoughts on the past week’s performance.
“We came out and played Osseo well,” she said. “Then they gained momentum in the third and fourth sets. It was a good conference win.”
As to Somerset, Wiensch said that, “We did well this weekend finishing 3rd at Somerset. We were out my starting middle and played quite well!
Beating Ellsworth and Glenwood City to place second in pool to Colfax, the Orioles took the competition to three sets, then playing Ashland for the win.
“Overall great tourney and results with a starter out and helps for tournament play starting next week,” Wiensch shared.
The Orioles next face off against multiple schools in the conference championship Thursday, Oct. 12, the action taking place at McDonell and scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
